Ryan Reynolds Controls the Universe!!!

...or at least just the movie news for today. The extremely busy actor has been linked to yet another comic book adaptation, this time R.I.P.D.(The Rest in Peace Department). Robert Schwentke, who's recently completed actioner for older folks, Red, is about to release in  couple of months, is signed on to direct. R.I.P.D., based on the Dark Horse comic series, is about a pair of undead cops who patrol what is known as the "dead beat", solving crimes involving other undead folks.

Here's the problem: Universal wants to shoot the film next year, preferably during the summer. But wait, isn't that around the time Warner Brothers wants to start crackin' on those Green Lantern sequels? And if R.I.P.D. does happen, where does that leave Deadpool? Reynolds is a cool dude and in phenomenal shape, but not even he can be in three places at once.

There's starting to be some buzz that perhaps Warner Brothers is trying to put the kibosh on Deadpool by overloading Reynolds' schedule. They want him to only be seen as Green Lantern and nobody else. Sounds unlikely to me, but I've seen more shady things wind up being true.

Also, Reynolds is now in contention to star opposite Denzel Washington in Safe House, the thriller from director Daniel Espinosa. Reynolds is one of many who are eagerly vying for the role, including Shia Labeouf, Channing Tatum, Sam Worthington, Chris Pine, and more.  He would star as a CIA agent who must go on the run with a newly arrived prisoner(Washington) after his safe house comes under attack.
