Johannson, Gordon-Levitt attached to Diablo Cody's upcoming zombie flick

Last year we got to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt steal hearts in the romantic comedy, 500 Days of Summer, as a love weary dude who falls in love with the girl of his dreams. Now he's gonna get another crack at winning over the hot chick, only this time he's going to have one huge stumbling block: he's a zombie.  He and Scarlett Johansson are very loosely attached to star in Breathers: A Zombie's Lament, Diablo Cody's(Juno) adaptation of the recently released novel by S.G. Browne.

Cody is merely on hand to produce, with the search for a director already underway. The script has been written by Geoff Latulippe, who wrote the long distance romantic-comedy Going the Distance that's due out this week.

JGL would star as Andy, a freshly dead regular dude who returns to "life" as a zombie, only to face fear and prejudice from the regular human population. Well, duh. Hasn't he ever seen True Blood? We can't even treat vamps like regular people and we love vamps! Johansson would be Rita, a woman who recently committed suicide and returned from the dead as well. The two form some sort of romantic bond, but other outside problems threaten to tear them up.

Sounds like one silly ass story. I love it already. JGL and Johansson are two of my favorites, and I can see them having great chemistry together. So obviously I hope the casting works out. With Latulippe writing(his script for Going the Distance is remarkable, I might add), I'm adding this to my list of flicks to keep both eyes on.
