Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall plot details hit the web

In a talk with Empire earlier last week creator Mark Millar had quite a bit to say about the sequel to this year's under appreciated satirical superhero film and Kick-Ass's friend turned mortal enemy Red Mist. This includes not just how bad he'll have become but also a not quite creative name change. Here's the quote from Empire courtesy of ScreenRant
“It’s gangs going all over New York filming atrocities on their cell phones and putting them on the internet, trying to outdo each other, all at the behest of Red Mist… And [Red Mist] calls himself The Motherf—–… the worst of all villains.”

“But at the same time we continue the story of Dave and all the complications in his life as he gets deeper and deeper into this dangerous hobby he’s got where he dresses up as a superhero and gets beaten up every night. So he forms a gang and what you’ve got then is all the heroes versus all the villains in a big gangfight.”

This sounds interesting to me but I'm not quite sure how it'll turn out. I'll be honest, I loved Kick-Ass but I don't really think Dave Lizewski or his alter ego came very far in badassery throughout the course of the first film. Unless there's some awesome "This is what you missed in between movies" montage I don't see how it'll make sense that Kick-Ass is spearheading his own justice league to fight Red Mists league of vulgar evil. I'm also stunned that Hit Girl isn't mentioned, although the end of the first film kind of points toward her hanging up her butterfly knives. I think it would work if we get some kind of scene showing Hit Girl teaching Kick-Ass everything she knows. They also hint that the film, or at least Red Mist's character, will be much darker. I hope this isn't true as the tone of the first movie was perfect and I don't think it should be messed with. At the end of the day I should probably just holster my opinions and trust that Millar and crew will do what's awesome as they seem to always do.
