The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Jake Gyllenhaal might not have been my first choice to play the Persian vagabond turned prince, but he's actually not bad in Jerry Bruckheimer's sword-swinging video game adaptation. The plot is hokey, involving a mysterious dagger that allows the wielder to rewind time, but the action is brisk and Gemma Arterton is as hot as ever.

Letters to Juliet
I feel like this should've been released months ago. Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with all the other romantic comes we've seen this year, although none of them are nearly as saccharine sweet as this. Amanda Seyfried helps teach us a thing or two about true and never letting it go as she travels the gorgeous Italian locale. It's the older folks, in particular Vanessa Redgrave as a woman searching for her lost love, who could teach the kids a thing or two about real romance.

Just Wright
I can think of many things I'd rather be doing than watch stiff as a board ex-rapper Common try his hand at being a romantic lead. He's lucky he's got Queen Latifah opposite him, who is utterly likable in practically everything. She plays a physical therapist who falls into a reluctant relationship with an aging pro basketball player. Eh, maybe Common can pull that off.

Princess Kaiulani
I had so much hope for this one, a historical epic that we'd never seen on screen before. Q'orianka Kilcher, who some will remember from The New World, is Princess Kaiulani, the last monarch of Hawaii who is forced to watch as her beloved country is taken over by political influences. The true story is powerful, but the film's execution left much to be desired. Check it out for a story I guarantee you've never seen before, and then think about just how good it could've been in more capable hands.

Bloodsport/Timecop

Consider it bought. Do I really have to say anything else? Just buy it.
