John C. Reilly joins Roman Polanski's 'God of Carnage'

Well, I'm still all worked up just thinking about it. We wrote about Roman Polanski's follow-up to The Ghost Writer just a few weeks ago. The film, God of Carnage, follows two New York couples who engage in a brutal disparaging war against eachother after their kids get into a fight. At the time we thought the cast was set in stone: Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz on one side; Jodie Foster and Matt Dillon on the other.

That's now changed, as it's been revealed that Dillon wasn't exactly on board. And even if he was, he isn't any more as John C. Reilly has taken on the role.

Kindof a big swap, don't you think? Nothing against Dillon, but I think Reilly is one of the 5 best actors working today, and having him join this all-star cast seems like a natural.  Dillon might've brought a certain street level, working man attitude to the part that might've been refreshing, but Reilly is more than capable of getting a bit dirty when he needs to. I can't wait for this.
