Trailer Time: Biutiful, starring Javier Bardem

Biutiful has been met with a ton of worldwide acclaim long before it ever reaches our shores. Directed by the great Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu(Babel, 21 Grams, Amores Perros), the film stars Javier Bardem as a man juggling a life of crime and as a devoted dad. When he sees the end of his life drawing near, he must try to secure a future for those he cares about most in the world.

Biutiful debuted at Cannes earlier this year, competing for the Palme d'Or, with Bardem earning the award for Best Actor. It's also Mexico's official entry in the upcoming Academy Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language film.

By nearly all accounts, Biutiful is an amazing film and a bit of a departure for Inarritu. While the trailer's rapid opening gives the impression that this will be another of his multi-faceted stories, in reality it's more a slow burn.  I have my doubts it will be much of a success here, especially since it's almost entirely in Spanish, but a guy can dream, right?

Biutiful debuts here on December 29th, 2010. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think!
