Spielberg completed the live-action footage for the film awhile back, and now the motion capture is being added on by Peter Jackson and his team of gurus over at Weta. But we hadn't actually seen how this was going to turn out. How would this collaboration between two of today's greatest filmmakers pan out? Now we know via the first full image releases from the film, and it is indeed the well known picture above. Take a look for yourself.
A couple more photos revealing Captain Haddick(voiced by Andy Serkis) and another featuring Tintin with Haddock on a capsized boat are also below.
Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn doesn't come out until December 23rd 2011, so there's a lot of work left to be done before we start seeing some actual footage. I'm officially excited. I used to(and occasionally still do) watch the cartoon on HBO, and one of the reasons I dig it is because it's really more for adults than for kids. The books themselves are even more mature. I'm sure the film version will try to find some sort of middle ground in order to appeal to the widest possible audience.
Empire Online has a much more in-depth look at the film, which you can read about or buy your copy of the magazine here.
