Alexandria, VA local competing in national Burlesque MTV dance contest! Vote now!!

I'm not really a "rah rah" kinda guy. I don't cheer for any of my home sports teams. I enjoy watching the locals get ripped on American Idol, and generally get a chuckle when the DC native inevitably fails on Jeopardy. So sue me. I'm just not much of a homer. But this in this case I'll make an exception. 

Tiyani Hutchinson is a 13 year old Alexandria, VA native competing in Screen Gems/MTV's national dance contest for the movie Burlesque(starring Christina Aguilera and Cher).  She's really amazing, so much so that she's made it through the local competition and into the finals for a chance to win $5,000 and a spot on MTV. Tiyani Hutchinson of Alexandria, VA is one of 20 finalists competing in the Screen Gems/MTV Burlesque Dance contest. Tiyani beat out other local dance hopefuls by performing the best family friendly routine to a one minute song clip from Burlesque to be able to compete nationally for the $5,000 Grand Prize and a spot on MTV.  She is competing against 20 other people from cities like Seattle, Phoenix, Detroit and Atlanta to name a few.  People can vote for Tiyani by logging on to http://burlesque.mtv.com and click on her video.

The Dance contest is a National promotion in conjunction with the release of Screen Gems new film Burlesque starting Cher and Christina Aguilera. Film is set to be released in theaters on Wednesday, November 24^th Nationwide.

Film Synopsis: Ali (Christina Aguilera) is a small-town girl with a big voice who escapes hardship and an uncertain future to follow her dreams to LA.  After stumbling upon The Burlesque Lounge, a majestic but ailing theater that is home to an inspired musical revue, Ali lands a job as a cocktail waitress from Tess (Cher), the club’s proprietor and headliner. Burlesque’s outrageous costumes and bold choreography enrapture the young ingénue, who vows to perform there one day. Soon enough, Ali builds a friendship with a featured dancer (Julianne Hough), finds an enemy in a troubled, jealous performer (Kristen Bell), and garners the affection of Jack (Cam Gigandet), a bartender and fellow musician.  With the help of a sharp-witted stage manager (Stanley Tucci) and gender-bending host (Alan Cumming), Ali makes her way from the bar to the stage.  Her spectacular voice restores The Burlesque Lounge to its former glory, though not before a charismatic entrepreneur (Eric Dane) arrives with an enticing proposal…
