Just this weekend we learned that Zac Efron is in talks to take on the lead role of Kaneda in the Hughes Brothers' live action take on Akira, but now Bloody Disgusting has discovered that there's a much bigger name circling the film as well. Morgan Freeman, yes God himself, is reportedly in talk to play Colonel Shikishima, the brutish and brave government officer in charge of the psychokinetic Esper experiments.
Call it a hunch, but I think a name change might be in order. Freeman can be seen most recently in the adaptation of Warren Ellis's grapic novel, Red
. Freeman has starred in other comics adaptations as well, most obviously the Batman films and Wanted
alongside Angelina Jolie.
