Sure Shots: Daniel Day-Lewis; Leonardo Dicaprio; Harry Potter

* I'm somebody who thinks Daniel Day-Lewis can play pretty much anything he wants and make it spectacular, and now he'll get the chance to prove it one more time as he's set to star as the 16th President of the United States in Dreamworks' production of Lincoln. If that's not enough to whet your appetite, then throw in that it'll be directed by Steven Spielberg.  I wonder if "Honest Abe" liked mikshakes?

* I don't know about you but I've had more than my fill of JFK assassination flicks, and this one sounds like more of the same ol' conspiracy crap. Leonardo Dicaprio is set to produce and star in in a flick based on the book, Legacy of Secrecy, by Lamar Waldron and Thom Hartmann. I love Thom Hartmann and listen to his show regularly. The guy is a genius, one of the smartest political minds on the planet, and I'm sure his book is well thought out. So this has nothing to do with him. I'm just tired of these movies right now.  Leo's reps have put out a release stating that a well-known director who has worked with Dicaprio before is interested in directing. Most people are probably thinking Scorsese, since the film focuses primarily on the mafia's links to the murder. Sounds like a sure bet to me.

* Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is already breaking records and it's barely been out half a friggin' day. Midnight showing of the film earned a whopping $24M, the most ever for the franchise. According to Deadline, Friday matinees have already conjured up $11M, so that's $35M in like 12 hours. I can't wait for the final tally.
