Trailer Time: Cowboys & Aliens, directed by Jon Favreau

As expected, here's the first trailer for Jon Favreau's high concept sci-fi Western, Cowboys & Aliens. The film stars Daniel Craig as a mysterious, amnesiac stranger in an old west town called Absolution. He discovers that his presence there isn't exactly wanted, especially by the town's sheriff. But when they soon find themselves under attack by an alien force, every man is needed in order to make a stand. Cowboys & Aliens is based on the 2006 graphic novel by Fred Van Lante, Scott Rosenberg, and Andrew Foley.

First off, I'm a sucker for a good Western, and I love the twist on the classic "mysterious stranger" bit with Craig's character waking to find an alien schackle on his wrist. From there I was hooked on who exactly this stranger was, and had almost forgotten about the invasion until the lights of their space ships appeared overhead. Basically this is combing two of my favorite genres and I was sucked into both almost immediately, so yeah I'm pretty hyped over this now. Again, it's good to see Harrison Ford having fun again. Maybe it's the Indiana Jones fan in me but I sorta wish he was the stranger and Daniel Craig the sheriff.

Cowboys & Aliens is due out in theaters on July 29th, 2011. Check out the trailer below!
