Trailer Time: The Eagle, starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell

Focus Features wisely changed the name of Kevin McDonald's(State of Play) upcoming historical epic from The Eagle of the Ninth down to a much more tidy The Eagle. Starring Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell, the film is about the search for the truth behind the disappearance of the famed Ninth Roman Legion some time around 117AD in Scotland.  Tatum stars as the son of the Legion's commander, who travels with a British slave(Jamie Bell) to recover their eagle standard and reclaim his father's honor.

Tatum seems a little out of place in his centurion garb, and overall the look of the film doesn't seem much better than an episode of Spartacus. With that said I'm digging the interaction between Tatum and Bell's characters, from two entirely different ends of the social ladder. But the trailer does sorta spoil one of the story's major twists. Nothing to do about it now, just be warned.

The Eagle should be rolling into theaters on February 25th, 2011. Check out the trailer and judge for yourself!
