I actually wrote about this back in June, but it had completely slipped my mind since. At the time we knew that a sequel to 2004's Mean Girls was being developed with screen vet Melanie Mayron directing. We even had a plot, such as it was. What I didn't know was that it would be straight-to-DVD, although I did highly suggest the possibility. Well, that prediction has held up, and Mean Girls 2 will be on store shelves next February.
Yeah, the trailer is extremely lousy. Considering it was brought to us by the same folks who keep giving us those awful sequels to highly profitable, mildly recognizable hits that's to be expected. If it looks like something that crawled out of the rear end of some ABC Family exec, then that's probably because half the chicks starring in this thing are from that awful channel's TV shows. Perhaps the most painful moment is witnessing poor ol' Tim Meadows, looking completely out of place and wondering why he's forced to sink to such miserable depths.
Check out the trailer for yourself if you can stand it.
