I just watched Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan for a second time last night, and it is so much better than I gave it credit for after the first time it's ridiculous. Not only does it include all the personal touches that made The Wrestler great, but Natalie Portman is a straight up revelation. She's always been great, but never quite like this. Since it comes out this Friday(my review will be that morning) I won't gush too much right now, but all I'll say is that I would pay to watch her perform ballet anyday.
I really wish they hadn't, and I probably shouldn't post it, but Fox Searchlight has released a Black Swan video clip showing Natalie Portman's ballet performance as Nina in a rendition of Swan Lake. I consider this to be the most transformative scene of the entire film, which is why I wish they didn't release it. But I guess without the rest of the film as context it's not so bad. Check out the clip below, and be sure to set a date to see Black Swan when it hits DC theaters on December 3rd!
