Wes Anderson rounds up an all-star cast for his next film, Moon Rise Kingdom
I'll be the first to admit that Wes Anderson doesn't do a whole lot for me. I find most of his movies cold emotionally, even if they are interesting stylistically. I loved Fantastic Mr. Fox last year, though, and I still think it should've won best animated feature.
One thing Anderson isn't lacking are actors anxious to work with him, and he's already rounding up a pretty impressive line-up for his next flick, Moon Rise Kingdom. As it stands right now, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, and Ed Norton are all in talks to join the film, which based on the synopsis already sounds like it could be his most interesting yet...
[The film] is set in the 60s. Two young adults fall in love and run away. Leaders in their New England town are sticking the idea that they’ve disappeared and go in search of them. Norton will play a scout leader who brings his charges on a search. Willis is in talks to play the town sheriff who’s also looking, and who is having an affair with the missing girl’s mother, the role McDormand is in talks to play. Murray, a regular in Anderson films, will play the girl’s father, who has his own issues.
I'm sure it won't pan out quite how it reads. The search will probably take a back seat to the quirks and issues of the adults, but with a cast like that it might not be such a bad thing.
