Charlize Theron is everywhere lately. For awhile it felt like her career was taking a downward turn(anyone remember Aeon Flux? Anyone?), but now her name is on the lips of every casting agent. Recently she's been at the top of the list to star in Snow White and the Huntsman, but it was expected that she would drop out from that film in order to be a part of Clint Eastwood's 'J. Edgar', the biopic of the former FBI director. Well now according to Vulture, that no longer appears to be the case.
Theron had been expected to fill the role of Hoover's loyal document shredding assistant, Helen Gandy, but apparently that was one big misunderstanding. It looks as if she's now a lock to play the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, afterall. It's expected that Michael Fassbender(Fish Tank) will be her co-star as Eric the Huntsman.
But her leaving 'J. Edgar' has also opened up another door...one that leads directly to the far reaches of space. Vulture also notes that 20th Century Fox want Theron for a major role as a veteran crewmember in Ridley Scott's prequel to 'Alien'. The report notes that Scott desperately wants to cast Noomi Rapace(The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) for the lead role, but the studio wants a big name to star alongside her. Scott wants Michelle Yeoh, but she's hardly a known commodity for most folks. Theron will be reading the Damon Lindelof script soon, so expect news on that to quickly follow.
