The hot topic for the past week? Casting for The Hobbit. At this point Peter Jackson has managed to drag practically everybody from the Lord of the Rings trilogy back for the film even though most of the characters are nowhere near the book. I'll be surprised if he doesn't find a way to cram Aragorn in there, but I'm guessing Viggo Mortensen wouldn't be all that keen to return.
One of the most recent rumors has had Christopher Lee reprising his role as the evil wizard Saruman. No, Saruman wasn't in The Hobbit, either. A statement from his website reads....
Sir. Christopher Lee had been in talks to reprise his role as the wizard Saruman and it now looks certain, providing that he is in good health, that he will be appearing in the movie.
Here's hoping, not just for the sake of the movie, that he's both in good spirits and good health.
Right now I'm through trying to figure out how all these characters will fit. I get that The Hobbit is JRR Tolkien's most sparse book and for cinematic purposes it needs to be fattened up, but now it just sounds like he's making two more LOTR movies. Do I really want more of that? Not sure of that just yet.
