I'm flying out the door to catch a screening of Cedar Rapids, the new comedy starring Ed Helms(The Hangover), but there's one last tidbit I'm going to throw out before I jet. Keep this under your hat but consider it rumor for now, but the fansite Strahotski received a tip that Yvonne Strahovski, who some people will recognize from her role on the TV show Chuck, will be cast as Carol "Ms. Marvel" Danvers in The Avengers. Here's what the site notes...
"Though it’s not often that we get the scoop on anything here, I’ve just received information from a protected source inside Marvel that points to Yvonne Strahovski being cast in the upcoming Avengers movie as Ms. Marvel.
Could it be true?
I, for one, have long hoped to see Yvonne crop up in a comic book movie. She’s got the action chops to easily pull it off and it was really just a matter of time before the right character came along."
I don't recall hearing anything about Ms. Marvel even appearing in the film, but wouldn't be surprised if she showed up simply in her civilian guise. The rumor comes from an "inside source" within Marvel, but there isn't a lot of meat to it. So just take it with a grain of salt. I don't know much about Yvonne Strahovski, but after peepin' a few pics she's definitely someone I need to be paying more attention to!
Ms. Marvel was a former officer in the Air Force, who received her alien superpowers after a freak accident involving Captain Marvel. She then has the abilities of flight, super strength, endurance, near invulnerability, and a seventh sense. She lost a number of these powers during an encounter with Rogue of the X-men. She would go on to earn new cosmic powers as the superhero known as Binary, before losing most of those as well. She would change her name to Warbird and take up a leadership position in The Avengers, eventually changing her name back to Ms. Marvel.
