Sly Stallone to star in 'Headshot' from the director of 'The Cooler'
I've been waiting for Wayne Kramer to have a decent follow-up to his first two films, The Cooler and Running Scared. Both showed that he's got one heck of a future ahead of him as a director, but then came 2009's Crossing Over, which was basically a poor man's Crash. Now it looks like he's got a film developing which could be just what I'm looking for, as he's set to team up with Sylvester Stallone on the cop drama, Headshot.
Stallone would star as a cop who “teams with a young NYPD detective in a high-stakes investigation that leads from the dingy back alleys of New Orleans all the way to the power corridors of Washington, D.C. The unlikely duo, brought together by two vicious murders, take on all who stand in their way, and are willing to sacrifice everything to exact revenge.”
The script was penned by Alessandro Camon, who co-wrote the excellent film The Messenger just a couple of years ago. That one was so good it was nominated for best screenplay at the Academy Awards, so I've got some seriously high hopes. Is there any chance that maybe, just maybe, the role of the "young NYPD detective" could go to The Messenger's Ben Foster? I sure hope so.
