Sure Shots: Jack the Giant Killer; Christian Bale; Cogan's Trade
* While we continue to wait for Bryan Singer to name the young actor who'll play the title role in Jack the Giant Killer, his "adult" take on the classic fairy tale, he's begun closing deals on the rest of the cast. Stanley Tucci and Bill Nighy have reportedly signed on. Tucci will be Roderick, the primary villain of the story. Nighy will be the other half of a two-headed giant, with the other played by John Kassir(Tales from the Crypt)
* The last time Christian Bale and director Brad Anderson hooked up they brought us The Machinist, which featured Bale losing about 60 pounds of weight and looking like he should be hanging in the corner of your biology class. Now the two are looking to pair up again in an adaptation of Concrete Island, based on the novel by J.G. Ballard, described as a "twisted adaptation of Robinson Crusoe". Count me in for that one.
* Can I go ahead and put Andrew Dominik's Cogan's Trade on my Most Anticipated List for 2012? Already sporting a superlative cast of Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, Bella Heathcote, James Gandolfini, and Casey Affleck, now Richard Jenkins(The Visitor) has joined as a lawyer who reveals inside information on the mob run poker game which sparks the entire story.
