Well this comes as a surprise. We got a glimpse of the teaser trailer for Tim Hill's(Alvin and the Chipmunks)Hop awhile back, which didn't show us squat really. Based on the plot, which involves the easter bunny(voiced by Russell Brand) getting injured while performing his mythical icon duties and being nursed back to health by a slacker played by James Marsden, this seemed like your classic "oil and water" buddy flick with an animated twist. Now the first full trailer has been released and the film looks like something completely different. Check it out below...
I was immediately surprised that the Easter Bunny isn't so much a mythical creature but a regular bunny with a family and a major responsibility. The flick doesn't seem to be all that raunchy as I expected, but appears to be targeted at youngsters. That could all be a clever marketing ruse, though.
Hop also stars Chelsea Handler, Kaley Cuoco, Hank Azaria, Hugh Laurie, Elizabeth Perkins, and Gary Cole. It's due out in theaters on April 1st 2011.
