Sure Shots: Sex and the City prequel; Dakota Fanning; Monsters sequel

* The zombified Prada wearing corpse of Sex and the City continues to stalk the offices of HBO Films. Unwilling to shoot the darn thing in the head after the disasterous sequel, they're currently looking to develop a prequel, The Carrie Diaries. Based on Candace Bushnell's 2010 book, it'll follow Carrie Bradshaw's high school years, I'm guessing as a high maintenance, high cost, big nosed skank biscuit. This being a prequel, they can't rightly cast Sara Jessica Parker, so writer/director Michael Patrick King has his sights set on someone else: Blake Lively(The Town).  Just let it end, will you!!?

* Time for the Brits to get their knickers in a twist. Dakota Fanning is set to star as Princess Margaret in the film, Girls' Night Out, which tells the true story of a time when she and her sister Princess Elizabeth were let out of the palace for one special night to celebrate Victory in Europe Day. The night is full of thrills, danger, and boys looking to make out with royalty. Michael Hoffman(The Last Station) will be helming the pic, with nobody attached to star as Elizabeth just yet. Sounds like Nick and Norah's WWII Playlist.

* Gareth Edwards' Monsters earned a ton of critical praise, even if it failed to latch on at the box office here in the States. The low budget monster road trip flick impressed Vertigo Films enough to begin talks of a sequel and a possible TV series. Edwards has become a hot commodity, though, with Legendary Pictures' Godzilla relaunch next on his plate.  He's revealed to Dread Central that any plans for a sequel or spinoff will likely move on without him. If I were Vertigo, I'd put those plans on a holding pattern until Edwards gets more interested in coming back, because his creativity was the best thing about that somewhat overrated indie.
