Schwarzenegger to star in a comic book movie? Offered remakes of Predator and The Running Man?
Remember what happened to Arnold Schwarzenegger's face when he stepped into the Mars atmosphere in Total Recall? Well that's basically what he did to California's budget, but now his term is over and the Governator has reportedly been fielding offers left and right. He's been mentioned as possibly returning to any future Terminator flicks that might eventually get made, possibly with Justin Lin in the director's chair. TheArnoldfans attended The Arnold Classic(an annual bodybuilding competition) and had a chance to ask him about the rumored three scripts he's considering....
Schwarzenegger: "Well, first of all it's more 15 films, obvious ones from The Terminator to remakes of Predator and The Running Man and all of those things. Then also a lot of original stuff too. But I am also packaging a Comic Book character right now. I'm going to announce that sometime by the end of March or the beginning of April."
15 films? Who does this guy think he is? James Franco? The Terminator we already knew about, but it's good to hear him formally address it a little bit. While it wouldn't make much sense to have him be the T-800 again, there's no reason why he can't show up in some other capacity.
As for Predator and The Running Man, we're talkin' about arguably my two favorite action movies ever. I don't believe for a second they'll be remaking Predator, not with the success of the Adrien Brody-led Predators last year. Again, there's no reason why Dutch, Schwarzenegger's character from Predator, can't be trapped on a planetary game preserve too. I've never heard a thing about a remake of The Running Man, and hope it never happens. The original is perfection. However, a sequel could work. Bring back Maria Conchita Alonso and have the two of them be a part of the underground resistance.
But what's this crap about packaging a comic book character? That one's got me intrigued more than anything else. Is it something we've heard about previouisly, like say...Mark Millar's Nemesis? Or Preacher? More than likely it's something that registered on the radar yet, but the idea of Arnold possibly doing anything superheroic is worth keeping an eye on. It's just good to have him back in the game again.
