Sure Shots: 21 Jump Street; GI Joe 2; Alec Baldwin

* If you've never seen Brie Larson before, I really suggest you check her out in Showtime's The United States of Tara where she supplies most of the laughs as the rebellious teenage daughter. She's also pretty good in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. That film tanked, but she might find a wider audience now as she's just signed on to star alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street, the comedic adaptation of the 1980s cop show. Her character is named Molly and will likely be a love interest for one of the two dudes(if not both). Ice Cube is also on board the film, which sees Chris Miller an Phil Lord(Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) directing. Thanks to Deadline for that info.

* It's been a busy week for anybody interested in a sequel to GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra. First, Jon Chu was announced as the film's director, supplanting Stephen Sommers. Then Rachel Nichols revealed that only three castmembers were returning. Now the film has an actual release date set: August 10th, 2012. Yo Joe.

* THR is reporting that Alec Baldwin has officially signed on to Adam Shankman's Rock of Ages, based on the 80's-centric Broadway musical. He'd been rumored for weeks to be joining Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige and recently added Julianne Hough.  He'll be playing a night club owner with a rock star past.
