GI Joe sequel may have a title; could shoot in New Orleans

I don't know what the heck the future holds for the GI Joe sequel. With the vast majority of the cast dumped, and new strange fitting director in Jon Chu(Step Up 2), this could turn out to be one big clusterbomb. The first Stephen Sommers-directed flick did ok at the box office, but it was probably even better for the local economy for where it was shot. Certailnly the film and office board for the state of Louisiana hopes so, as a few days ago they reported that the film would be shooting in New Orleans starting in August.

NOLA.com reports that they also quickly retracted the statement at Paramount's request, making it clear that Louisiana is just being considered right now. But at the same time they also noted that the film is currently being titled GI Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. That sounds like a working title to me. Not sure it'll stick.

If they do choose New Orleans, it would keep returning star Channing Tatum in the "Crescent City" for even longer. He's already there in preparation to shoot 21 Jump Street

GI Joe 2 will see the return of only a handful of castmembers. Tatum will reprise his role as Conrad "Duke" Hauser; Ray Park is Snake-Eyes; Lee Byung-Hun is his rival, Storm Shadow. The plan is for the film to be released, possibly in 3D, on August 10th 2012.
