New Images of Tom Hardy, Shia Labeouf, and Mia Wasikowska in The Wettest County!
One of the flicks that has me the most excited is one that I have no earthly idea when it'll actually come out, and that's John Hillcoat's adaptation of The Wettest County in the World, Matt Bondurant's novel about his grandfather and uncles who ran a Prohibition-era bootlegging business. Hillcoat has gathered together an all-star cast, featuring Shia Labeouf, Tom Hardy, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Guy Pearce. Even though that's enough to put this at the top of anybody's must-see list, the reason I'm so jazzed is having the chance to see another Hillcoat/Nick Cave production. The two have worked together before on Ghosts... of the Civil Dead and most recently in 2005's The Proposition, a spectacular film. Hillcoat most recently directed The Road back in 2009, which if you were able to not kill yourself from depression was a visual and atmospheric masterpiece.
A few new photos have been released from Wettest County, which appear to be set photos taken by producer Cassian Elwes. Most of them are pretty crappy, so I'm including the two best looking one. It features Jason Clarke, Shia Labeouf, and Tom Hardy. The other is a fan photo featuring Mia Wasikowska and a who I'm hoping is an extra on the set, otherwise she looks like she just escaped from the compound. For the rest you can check out Elwes's Twitter feed. Here's hoping Wettest County makes it to Cannes!
