Universal is making sure nobody has the opportunity to miss Bridesmaids, the Kristen Wiig starring(and co-written) comedy that they've been pushing as something of a "female" version of The Hangover(which it really isn't). Not only are they cranking out the trailers at a remarkable clip, including the new red band one you can see below, but screenings of the film have been plentiful around here. Not that I'm complaining. I saw it a few weeks ago and it's fantastic. I'm hoping to check it out one more time before it finally releases on May 13th.
The new trailer isn't "safe for work", but honestly it's not that bad. It focuses a bit more on Jon Hamm's character, a hot but uncaring douche that Wiig's character just can't seem to stay away from. Hamm is great, by the way, but the real stand out for me was Melissa McCarthy, who most will recognize from Gilmore Girls. She's always been a fave of mine, and she stands out amongst a wealth of hilarious performances by Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, and Wendy McLendon-Covey.The film was directed by Paul Feig, and it's easily his best. If you haven't seen any of the trailers yet, do yourself a favor and check out the one below, then be sure to hit up Bridesmaids on May 13th. You won't regret it.
