Trailer Time: Immortals, directed by Tarsem Singh
I'll see this about director Tarsem Singh(The Fall, The Cell), the guy does absolutely NOTHING small. Nor do his films look like anybody else's. Sure, you can make the easy analysis and say that his latest gods and warriors epic, Immortals, looks like Zack Snyder's 300, but do you honestly think that's how it'll end up? I don't. It only resembles 300 in that there are the bleak, sparse landscapes and the scads of armored up Roman soldiers. But otherwise it has a much larger feel than 300 ever did due to the fantastic powers on display, and the film has a bright, water color look to it. Even though this version of the trailer is a billion times better than the shitty one from yesterday, it still looks a little rough. And yet it all works. I'm excited, what can I say?
For a lot of people this will be their first chance to check out the future Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, and we get some pretty sweet scenes of him and the rest of the impressive cast here as well. I could've done with a bit more Mickey Rourke, but I'm sure he'll be the focus of at least one of the upcoming trailers.
Immortals is due to hit theaters on November 11th. Check out the trailer, followed by the plot below...
PLOT
The brutal and bloodthirsty King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his murderous Heraklion army are rampaging across ancient Greece in search of the long-lost Bow of Epirus. With the invincible Bow, the king will be able to overthrow the Gods of Olympus and become the undisputed master of his world. With ruthless efficiency, Hyperion and his legions destroy everything in their wake and seem unstoppable.
As village after village is obliterated, a stonemason named Theseus (Henry Cavill) vows to avenge the death of his mother, who died in one of Hyperion's raids. When Theseus meets the Sybelline Oracle, Phaedra (Freida Pinto), her disturbing visions of the young man's future convince her that he is the key to stopping the destruction. With her help, Theseus assembles a small band of followers and wages a battle for the future of humanity.
