Tim Story to direct Think Like A Man, based on a book by Steve Harvey
This one's for my buddy and colleague, Tim Gordon. We just finished discussing earlier tonight at the Fast Five screening about how Tim Story, who directed both terrible Fantastic Four flicks, was having a hard time getting work. Both FF films weren't very good, but they still pulled in a pretty penny. And let's not forget that Story also has the very successful Barbershop under his hat. It looks like we can both start complaining now, as Deadline reports that Story has been brought on to helm Think Like A Man, based on comedian Steve Harvey's 2009 book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy and Commitment.
Sony seems to be pretty high on the pic, already locking down an April 6th 2012 release date. The film will star Kevin Hart(Death at a Funeral) as “a self-professed relationship expert who is quick to give advice to his crew of friends, even as his own marriage heads toward divorce.” Keith Merryman & David A. Newman penned the script.
Sony's picturing this as an ensemble comedy, which should fit right in Story's wheelhouse. Here's hoping this gets him back on the winning track, because I think we've yet to see the best from Story as a director.
