The Social Network got all the headlines last year, but there were actually two excellent films centered around Facebook. The other was Catfish, the documentary(?)/mystery about an artist who gets a little too wrapped up in a family he meets via the social networking platform. Catfish had a ton of buzz and stirred up no end of controversy, which directors and "stars" Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman were more than happy to keep going. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and kick Catfish up to the top of your Netflix queue right now.
But moving from documentary narrative to a fictional one is a totally different bag, even if the same handheld cam format is in play. Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central are reporting that the duo have been brought on to helm Paranormal Activity 3, taking over for Tod Williams who directed the last film to a $176M total.
Details are scarce, but we can pretty much assume that the posessed form of Katie(Katie Featherstone) will be back to terrorize another family. Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli(and also a producer on Insidious) will be back to produce, with Christopher B. Landon returning to pen the script. You can expect to see the film in it's typical pre-Halloween spot on October 21st!
