Sure Shots: Joel Courtney; Jason Momoa; Emma Thompson to script Annie remake?

* Super 8 star Joel Courtney is following up his breakthrough with a pair of indie flicks. The first is Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, based on Mark Twain's classic characters. That film is written and directed by Jo Kastner. The second film is The Healing, about two boys and their ailing father caught up in a supernatural adventure. Georgio Seafini serves as both writer and director. [Variety]

* Buffed up musclehead Jason Momoa will follow-up his Conan the Barbarian with another meathead flick, Sylvester Stallone's action pic formerly titled Headshot. He'll play Keegan, the assassin who killed the partners of a hitman(Stallone) and a young cop(Sung Kang). Sarah Shahi co-stars, with Walter Hill directing.

* I always felt like Emma Thompson hasn't received the true admiration she deserves. Not only is she a remarkable actress, but one heck of a writer. Not only did she win an Academy Award for the screenplay of Sense and Sensibility, but she also wrote both Nanny McPhee flicks. Not bad. Now she's being courted by Will Smith to script a remake of Broadway musical Annie for his daughter, Willow. Ryan Murphy(Glee) had been in line to direct, but that apparently fell through some months ago.
