Sure Shots: Lucas Till; Pablo Escobar; True Blood star lands Australian rom-com
* So X-men: First Class can hardly be counted as one of the summer's great success stories. At least not in terms of box office. For the cast of film, however, it's led to seemingly endless amount of offers. Just look at James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult. Now you can add Lucas Till to the mix. The young actor, who played Havok in the mutant prequel, has joined Stoker, the english language debut of South Korean director Park Chan-Wook(Oldboy). He joins Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Jacki Weaver, and Matthew Goode in a film about a teenage girl dealing with the return of her mysterious uncle not long after her father's death. The script was written by Wentworth Miller(Prison Break). [TheWrap]
* Many have tried and failed to make a big screen film surrounding Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar(Oliver Stone, Joe Carnahan to name a couple), but it might be a relative newbie who gets the job done. Brad Furman, who scored an unexpected hit this year with The Lincoln Lawyer, is set to direct the film, based on a script by Matt Aldrich(Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses). Producer Scott Steindorff(Turistas) says the film will be a cross between "The Godfather and a war movie". Lofty goals. I think they should just stick with the Vincent Chase from Entourage version. * Ryan Kwanten, better known as Jason Stackhouse on HBO's True Blood, is set to star in the Australian romantic comedy, Not Suitable for Children. He'll play a guy who learns he'll become infertile in a month's time, and must desperately search for someone to have a child with. Peter Templeman makes his feature film directorial debut after earning an Academy Award nomination for his 2007 short film, The Saviour. Kwanten will be seen next in the live action role playing flick, The Knights of Badassdom. [THR]
