Trailer Time: 50/50, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen

It's been almost two months since I first checked out the cancer comedy 50/50, yet it's a film that's stuck with me every since and has only grown in my mind. Based on the true life experience of the story's writer, Will Reiser, it stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a regular young guy who is suddenly stricken with a rare form of cancer. With the aid of his best buddy, played by Seth Rogen, he tries to tackle the problem by finding the humor and joy out of life wherever possible. Directed by Jonathan Levine, who made the awkardly toned drug dealer comedy, The Wackness, 50/50 I think balances the laughs with the drama in a much better way. This is a film that will make you cry, but it's also uplifting and damn funny as well. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives what I think is an award worthy performance that I hope doesn't get overlooked.

A new trailer for the film has been released, and it's probably a step down from the previous one. It doesn't showcase the film's humor very well, and I think the bit where they try to use the cancer as a means of picking up chicks may be one that rubs people the wrong way. Regardless, people should keep an eye out for 50/50 when it hits theaters on September 30th. Hopefully I'll have a chance to see it again before then, too....
