I think it's safe to say that nobody was asking for a remake of 1985's beloved cult favorite, Fright Night. A horror comedy with a clear love for old school monster movies with a touch of 80s cheese, it featured a couple of iconic performances by both Chris Sarandon and Roddy McDowell. But then here comes the latest version from director Craig Gillespie(Lars and the Real Girl), and it's a true breath of fresh air compared to the other lousy remakes we keep getting, sticking to the basic plot but adding a few modern tweaks and an even greater touch of irreverent humor courtesy of writer Marti Noxon(Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Anton Yelchin(Star Trek, Alpha Dog) plays Charlie Brewster, a regular high school kid in Las Vegas who comes to realize that his new neighbor, Jerry(Colin Farrell), is a vampire.
