First Shots: RIPD

As some of you may know from Travis's constant ribbing of my love for the TV series Supernatural. So it comes as no surprise that one of my most anticipated movies of the next year is the live action film based on the comic book RIPD otherwise known as the Rest In Peace department. Ryan Reynolds will be aiming to redeem himself with comic fans after that whole Green Lantern disaster as he steps in to the role of Nick Walker. Walker is a member of the deceased, yup he starts out dead already. There's not too much out on the film's story yet but this synopsis of the comic should cover the basics.

Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department -- the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement "patrolling the deadbeat...reporting to one boss." Yep -- THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailant, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he's traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back -- literally!

Set pics after the break!

And here you have it...I'm guessing Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon are dead too and we the living can't see them for some reason. I know the pictures don't really say much about the film itself but the style gets an A from me. I mean, they managed to make Kevin Bacon look like Captain Cool, a feat that apparently doesn't work in 60's apparel (See X-Men: First Class). Jeff Bridges...well, to be honest Bridges looks like a wild west barber who stole Al Capone's suit pants, but the Dude works any look so I'm sure it'll work out there. Ryan Reynolds reminds all of us guys why we hate that we can't dislike the guy, he just oozes cool with no apparent effort. So what do you guys think? A sleeper hit of 2013 or that year's Jonah Hex?
