I want to believe that Dream House is better than the terrible trailer we've seen. I really do. It's got Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts in it, so I know the acting is solid. Plus it's Jim Sheridan(In America, Brothers), a filmmaker who I consider to be one of today's unsung greats. Daniel Craig is there too his presence doesn't exactly excite me. It's just really hard for me to have any faith this rather blah looking psycho-horror is any good when the studio decides it's not even good enough to screen for press. What are they afraid of? I can understand why a film like Abduction runs and hides from us like a little girl with a skinned knee, but Dream House? Really?
Dream House follows a successful family(led by Craig and Weisz) who move with their kids into a seemingly perfect home in a cozy New England town. Only crap goes all to heck when they discover the previous occupants died mysteriously. Watts plays their nosey neighbor who gets in on investigating the goings on. The big reveal of the story has already been shot to hell by the trailer, but this new clip focusing on Weisz's inquisitive character is mostly spoiler free. Although I think smarter heads may be able to read into it a little. Be wary...
Dream House opens cold in theaters on September 30th. We MAY have a review for it. I tend to dislike giving press to a film the studios don't want me to publicize, so it's up in the air at this point.
