* The super sexy Paula Patton, last seen giving wedding vows in Jumping the Broom, has joined the huge cast of Disconnect, the latest film from director Henry-Alex Rubin(Murderball). The story follows a number of characters, all of whom have had technology affect their lives, mostly with negative results. Patton's role is unclear at this point, but she'll join a cast that includes Jason Bateman, Michael Nyqvist, Alexander Skarsgard, Colin Ford, Andrea Riseborough, and Frank Grillo.[Deadline]
* As if it were possible for Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" to get any more awesome, he goes and adds maybe the best character actor in the business to an already superlative cast. Academy Award winnr Jackie Earle Haley(Little Children) has joined the political film, based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's novel, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. Haley will add another bad guy(some Southerners might disagree) to his resume, playing Alexander Stephens, the Vice President of the Confederate States of America. Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Straithairn, Walton Goggins and Lee Pace star. [Deadline]
* Even though I'm not really all that interested in seeing The Thing, I'll endure it because hopefully we'll see Mary Elizabeth Winstead(Death Proof) kick a little ass. After that, she'll possibly join the cast of indie drama, Smashed, from writer/director James Ponsoldt(Off the Black). Variety reports she's entered talks for the film, along with Nick Offerman(Parks & Recreation), Aaron Paul(Big Love), and Octavia Spencer(The Help). Based in part on Blake Edwards' 1962 film, Days of Wine and Roses, the story centers on an alcoholic couple who see their relationship crumble when the woman decides to sober up.
