Ezra Miller says he won't star in the Akira remake

Is it fair to count this as one of a dozen rejections Warner Brothers has experienced trying to cast up their American, live-action remake of Akira? A few days ago, word broke that Alden Ehrenreich(Tetro) and Ezra Miller(We Need to Talk About Kevin) were supposed to be testing for the lead role of Tetsuo in the film, with those tests taking place last weekend. Moviefone spoke to Miller and he makes it pretty clear that he won't be a part of it...

Miller: "It's not true," he said in a phone interview. "That, I can assure you, will not be a reality."

"It's a beautiful Japanese epic and I think it'll be a very entertaining, fun film, but no, it's not my next move,"

What isn't clear is whether he turned it down or if Warner Brothers went in a different direction. Ehrenreich's a better choice for the part of Tetsuo, anyway.

Kristen Stewart and Keira Knightley are still said to be circling the role of Kaneda's love interest, Kei. While Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter may be eying roles, as well. The film will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, with a script by Steve Kloves(Harry Potter).
