Harold and Kumar director to helm horror comedy, Final Girls

While A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas didn't exactly set the box office on fire, first-time director Todd Strauss-Schulson can at least say he kept the stoner comedy in the black. For the most part it received good word of mouth, keeping the possibility for more raunchy humor from the duo alive. For me it was the weakest film of the trilogy, but still a solid effort. For Strauss-Schulson, it's opened up a lot of doors for him, with his name popping up recently to helm Family Getaway, featuring one of the most lauded scripts of the year. After that, Variety reports he'll be behind the camera for a film that's being described as part Back to the Future, part Friday the 13th.

Titled Final Girls, the story by writers Mark Fortin and Josh Miller centers on a girl and her friends mysteriously sucked into the 1980s horror film that her late mother once starred in.

A pretty cool sounding idea with plenty of potential for silly, bloody fun, but one that may be far off as the writing process is still underway.
