Trailer Time: Newlyweds, written and directed by Edward Burns
I have something of a love/hate relationship with the movies of Ed Burns. I respect his ingenuity and creative spirit, filming his movies on the cheap in the streets of his native Queens, New York and inspiring numerous other filmmakers to follow in his footsteps. On the other hand I think he's a terribly one-note actor who plays the same character no matter what he's in. While he made a name for himself early on as an actor with a pivotal role in Saving Private Ryan, it was as a filmmaker that he truly carved out a nitch for himself as something of a poor man's Woody Allen. As his acting gigs have become less....meaningful(his last really good role was as himself on HBO's Entourage), Burns has leaned more on his directing talent. The next film he's bringing is yet another relationship drama featuring beautiful New Yorkers, titled Newlyweds.
Starring Burns(of course) and Caitlin Fitzgerald as a newlywed couple living an easy life in their Tribeca loft, they see their world turned upside down with the arrival of his damaged and impulsive half-sister(Kerry Bishe). It's a story about love, infidelity, and sibling rivalry in the classic Burns model. That also means Burns is surrounding himself with hot, sexy young actresses nobody's ever heard of.
The new trailer for Newlyweds has been released ahead of it's opening on December 26th. Check it out below...
