1st look at Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer

It's a good time to be a Spike Lee fan. While I've enjoyed the documentaries he's been making lately, like the ESPN doc Kobe Doin' Work, or his love letter to New Orleans, If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise, it's been a long time since he made a feature film. Not since the disappointing Miracle at St. Anna. But now we've got two Spike Lee joints on the way, one the remake of Oldboy, and the far more personal one in Red Hook Summer.

Even though Lee will make a cameo appearance as Mookie from Do the Right Thing, Red Hook Summer isn't a sequel but more like a spinoff. The story sees an Atlanta native head to the Brooklyn borough to spend the summer with the grandfather he never met. Clarke Peters(The Wire) and a handful of newcomers will star. What, no room Joie Lee?

Lee recently took to Twitter to announce that the film had been invited to Sundance, and as such we have our first photo from it. I'm excited. How about you?
