Punch Drunk DVDs: The Oscars Edition
One of the things I love about awards season is the mad dash by my less fanatical friends to catch up on every Oscar nominated film they haven't seen yet. While it gets tiresome talking with critics day in and day out about these same movies, it never grows old discussing the appeal of a film like Hugo or The Descendants with someone who is just seeing them for the first time, and maybe only has time to see a couple dozen movies a year. They're generally more excited about it.
This week sees the release of Hugo, Martin Scorsese's magical 3D adventure film which scored five big wins at the Academy Awards this past Sunday. Some may be disappointed they were all on the technical side of things, but to me a win is a win is a win, and Hugo was so honored because it is a true visual achievement. When you consider it was Scorsese's first foray into 3D filmmaking, and such an obvious departure from his previous work, it's even more remarkable. So I figured this was a good time to skip the usual Punch Drunk DVDs format, and off you some amazing deals on all of the Oscar winners and nominees available on DVD and Blu-Ray. This is the perfect week to stock up on all of last year's best films, so I hope you'll take advantage by clicking the below links!
