Johnny Depp has his pick of leading ladies for 'The Thin Man'

Let's say you're Johnny Depp and you want to cast the perfect leading lady for a remake of The Thin Man. She'd have to have perfect comedic timing, and be able to express the boundless curiosity and flirty nature perfectly captured by Myrna Loy in the 1930s movies. So...who do you choose? Anyone you darn well please. You're Johnny friggin' Depp for chrissakes!

With Rob Marshall(Chicago) at the helm and the latest script draft from David Koepp, it appears that every actress on the planet is dying to play Nora Charles to Depp's Nick Charles. Amy Adams, Kristen Wigg, Eva Green, Carey Mulligan, Emma Stone, Emily Blunt, and Isla Fisher were all named. Rachel Weisz's name is in there, too, but her name has been floated for the role since early last year.  Stone seems like she may be a touch too young, so I doubt she'll get it. Wiig seems like a nice fit, considering her increased profile and obvious comedic experience. Green may have an edge since she just finished working with Depp on Dark Shadows. And Weisz...well, she's great in everything. My money is on one of those three.

If  you haven't read the Dashiell Hammett's book, or seen any of the movies that sprung from it, they are pretty much a requirement. The Thin Man follows Nick and Norah Charles, a wealthy socialite couple that drinks and smokes their way through solving crimes together. Finally a Johnny Depp movie to get excited about!  [Deadline]
