Paul Thomas Anderson's 'The Master' eying an October release

News on The Master, the next film from my personal favorite director Paul Thomas Anderson(Punch Drunk Love), has been few and far between. It's basically been shot almost completely in secret, with only a few set photos being released. Basically it's been torturing wondering when we'd finally get a chance to see it, with the hope it'd be before the end of the year. Although we don't have any new images or anything yet, there is some good news, as it looks like The Master may be a contender this awards season.

While talking to a P.T. Anderson fansite, super producer Megan Ellison hinted that we should keep our eyes towards October as a potential release date, all but guaranteeing the film would be a heavy player at the Oscars, just as Anderson's There Will Be Blood was back in 2007. Hopefully that's a general release date and not some premier at a film festival across the pond or something.

Originally described as being based on the origins of hoax religion  Scientology, the film has since been trimmed down and reworked into the story of Lancaster Dodd, a disillusioned man in the aftermath of WWII, who begins a religious movement that captivates the world. Joaquin Phoenix plays his right hand man who begins to question the belief system. Laura Dern and Amy Adams co-star, with Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood doing the score.

So if we are going to get this thing by the end of the year, maybe we'll get a trailer in the next few weeks? Please?
