Lionsgate has to be pleased as punch over the amount of buzz amassed for the March 23rd release of The Hunger Games, possibly even rivaling that of The Twilight Saga at this point. Not only is the film tracking to bank over $100M on it's opening weekend(tracking reports tend to be sketchy though), but you can barely flip on the TV or the internet machine without being reminded of it.
While I'm still excited as all heck for it, the studio's excessive release of footage from some of the story's key moments is wearing on me. Case in point, the latest clip courtesy of MTV, which features Peeta Mellark(Josh Hutcherson) have a chat with Caesar Flickerman(Stanley Tucci). Caesar is sorta like a cross between Billy Bush, Larry King, and Richard Dawson, and his presence adds to the rather creepy "murder as entertainment", celebrity obsessed vibe that runs through the book and clearly will in the film. In this scene, Peeta admits his love for Katniss Everdeen(Jennifer Lawrence), one of his rivals in the 'Games'. So the chances of their living happily ever after? Slim and none, and 'Slim' just went out for a coffee break....
