After all the hubbub over Shane Black's coming aboard to direct Iron Man 3, we really haven't learned much about the film itself. That's to be expected, as Marvel has larger plans for Tony Stark that will encompass what's upcoming in The Avengers. With the film set to start filming this summer, right around the time The Avengers will be storming theaters, Latino Review thinks they've discovered the first details on the Iron Man 3 plot. Take 'em with a grain of salt folks....
The site reveals that Marvel, which has done a pretty good job of blending actual comics events with new elements in their films, will be taking arguably the biggest development in the Iron Man comic and bringing it to the silver screen. It involves nanobots, and the creation of Tony Stark's Extremis Armor. After getting his ass whupped by a nanotech infused foe, Stark would inject his body with a techno-organic virus(don't even get me started on what techno-organics are!! We'll be here all day!), that basically fuses the Iron Man armor with his nervous system. So he can call on the armor and do whatever he needs to do simply through brain impulses. Essentially, he no longer needs to carry his armor around in a suitcase, and can perform even more amazing feats, such as healing factor similar to Wolverine's. Personally, I loved the idea at the time it happened, but it's since been used to make Iron Man way too powerful.
Apparently, the events of The Avengers lead directly into Iron Man 3, with something Captain America says planting the idea in Tony Stark's head to introduce the nanobots into his own system. So what this tell us is that the villain will most likely be another super armored foe for Iron Man to square off against. But it also tells us something about The Avengers. What would cause Captain America to make such a suggestion? Is it possible that the legion of aliens the team is facing will be techno-organic in nature? Maybe, maybe not. We'll find out when The Avengers opens on May 4th.
Iron Man 3 is set to open on May 3rd, 2013.
