Melissa McCarthy who? Nobody has stuffed their post-Bridesmaids schedule with more upcoming projects than Rebel Wilson, who was hilarious for dumping frozen peas on herself as Kristen Wiig's roommate. Already having completed the acapella musical comedy, Pitch Perfect(with Anna Kendrick), Wilson also has a role in What to Expect When You're Expecting, Struck By Lightning, Bachelorette, and will lend her voice to the next Ice Age movie. Sheesh. And she's not even close to finished.
EW reports that Wilson has joined the cast of Michael Bay's muscle headed indie crime caper, Pain and Gain. Based on a true story chronicled in the Miami New Times, Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg star as a pair of bodybuilders who are also part of a criminal ring involved in kidnapping, drugs, and murder. When their scheme to kidnap and extort a wealthy businessman(Tony Shalhoub) goes belly up, the victim hires a private detective(Ed Harris) to track them down. Think Fargo, but with bigger biceps, more palm trees, and fewer wood chippers. Anthony Mackie, Bar Paly, and Rob Corddry round out the cast so far. Wilson will play a woman who gets involved in their scheme and ends up behind bars for it.
I remember hearing somewhere that Bethenny Frankel, a reality TV creation who was on The Real Housewives of New York City, had read for a role but I don't know what ever came of that. Nor do I really care. Just thinking out loud. Filming is set to begin next month or in May.
