Trailer Time: 'The Cabin in the Woods', written by Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard

Completed nearly three years ago, The Cabin in the Woods has had a lot of high expectations dumped on it. Most of it was by co-writer Joss Whedon, who has said the film is an attempt to revitalize the horror genre which had sunk too far into the torture porn arena. That was 2009, though, and things have changed a little bit with horrors now in the grip of more found footage flicks than anything else. So many that there's already a "been there done that" feel about them. So while the horror climate may have changed, there is still room for The Cabin in the Woods to come in and make a big splash. One thing that can't be said about it, especially after this second shorter trailer for the film, is that it looks like familiar.

Don't let the simple premise fool you. A bunch of college kids go off to a cabin in the woods and a bunch of where a bunch of crazy sh*t starts to go down. But it's not just a bunch of crazy locals causing the city kids a ton of grief, there are monsters, force fields, space ships, dudes in weird Eyes Wide Shut masks and a bunch of other crap that's making my head spin. What the hell is going on? Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Amy Acker and Bradley Whitford star. Check out the trailer below, then look out for The Cabin in the Woods when it opens on April 13th....[FearNET]
