This summer's movies might have all the box office muscle, but it's really this upcoming December where the most high powered films will battle it out. And the crown jewel of them all is clearly Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. His racially charged spaghetti Western won't feature any superpowers; isn't a sequel; and probably won't have much franchise potential. It's going to thrive on the typical pop of Tarantino's script, and a ridiculously stacked A-list cast.
The first images of the film have been released courtesy of EW, and judging by the look of DiCaprio's suave, hammer wielding villain, Calvin Candie, this is going to be a lot of fun. We also get a look at Jamie Foxx as the freed slave, Django, who teams up with a German bounty hunter named Dr. King Schultz played by Christoph Waltz. Together they must infiltrate Candie Land, the plantation where Django's wife(Kerry Washington) is being held.
Foxx describes Django as a cross between Richard Roundtree and Clint Eastwood. Bold words, but if it's true this is going to be a hell of a ride. Due out on Christmas Day, Django Unchained also features Samuel L. Jackson, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kurt Russell, Don Johnson, Rza, Misty Upham, Laura Cayouette, Walter Goggins, James Remar, Dennis Christopher, Anthony LaPaglia, and M.C. Gainey.
