Sean Anders to direct Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's football comedy, '3 Mississippi'

Here's a comedy that as of last year I was looking forward to because it combined the proven gold duo of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, so great together in The Other Guys, and my deep love for anything football. Real football, not that soccer crap. Formerly titled Turkey Bowl but now known as 3 Mississippi, the film centers on two warring families who hold an annual football game every Thanksgiving, and as usual the emotions start running pretty high.  Last year, Ferrell's partner-in-crime Adam McKay had been in talks to direct, but now THR reports that Sean Anders will helm and co-write alongside John Morris.

The plan is for this to be a huge celebrity affair similar to Anchorman, with numerous high profile cameos suiting up to get in on the action. Jeremy Renner and Rob Riggle were two of the names being thrown around before, with Alec Baldwin circling the role of Wahlberg's father.

While McKay would have been the ideal choice for a movie like this, the combination of Anders and Morris has proven to be pretty successful as well. Anders directed the underrated teen comedy, Sex Drive, and will next take on the Adam Sandler/Andy Samburg comedy, That's My Boy. As a writing duo they penned the scripts for She's Out of My League and Hot Tub Time Machine.
